READ FIRST IF Seeking legal help from the ACLU
The ACLU of the Nation’s Capital works in our local community, Washington, DC--the Nation's Capital, to protect and extend the civil liberties guaranteed primarily by the Bill of Rights or the U.S. Constitution. We do this through filing lawsuits, educating the public, and lobbying in the District Government.
We take requests for legal help in writing only--again, they must involve something that happened in Washington, DC. (Note: If you think the government infringed upon your civil liberties outside of the District of Columbia, look up your local ACLU affiliate to request legal help where the situation occurred.)
Before you write to us for legal help, please visit our Seeking legal help from the ACLU page for full details and follow the instructions on how to submit a request for legal assistance from the ACLU.
Use the Information Form provided here to request information (other than legal help) from or to submit a comment to the ACLU of the Nation's Capital.
